Such an amazing restoration of the lighthouse back to 1910. It is well worth the travel to get to see this important part of history. And it's free to take a tour!
This is a must see if you get to the island. It is worth the trip to the island just to see this. on a clear day you can see Escanaba, MI. This lighthouse is almost fully restored to when it was in use.(basement not done yet). you can get a guided tour or if you apply, you can give guided tours and live in the lighthouse for a week. Climbing up into the light can be a little steep but worth it. WARNING- your cell phone will change to Michigan time zone, keep that in mind if you need to catch the last ferry off Rock Island.
My favorite Wisconsin lighthouse! You’re given in the summer by the group who manage/take care of the light house. Very knowledgeable. The walk to the lighthouse about about 25-30 minutes.
A pleasant surprise and the highlight of our trip to Washington Island. The tour is fantastic and they take you all the way to the top of the lighthouse. We enjoyed learning the history of Wisconsin's first lighthouse. Use the trail to the East to walk down to the lake afterwards.
Good tour of the Lighthouse Keeper's historic residence, and the opportunity to climb up to the light tower, led by volunteer docents on behalf of the Friends of Rock Island.
