I have trusted Dr. Wilson and his staff with our dogs since we first started seeing him in 2000 in Washington Township or at the Animal Clinic in Sterling Heights. Both offices are far from my house, but I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. The care is superb and the veterinarians are skilled and compassionate. Many of my friends have switched to these clinics, too because of the reputation of Dr. Wilson and all of his veterinary staff. I highly recommend Wilson Veterinary Hospital and Animal Clinic of Sterling Heights.
I have been taking my pups to Wilson’s Hospital for the past 15 years now. Since then, I haven’t had any issues with the Dr.’s or staff. On numerous occasions, Ive had to take my pets to urgent care there, sometimes they’re busy, other times they’re not (just like a people hospital), they prioritize their patients (which is for the well-being of the pet), & then provide appropriate care. There have been times when I’ve taken in my dog for an injured knee and other times when I’ve rushed a pup in with pneumonia or one having a seizure. Each time they’d appropriately assess my dog & decide which treatments were necessary & then involve me in the decision making process. Three times I’ve had three different dogs stay inpatient due to illness in their hospital and each time was a wonderful experience. I was able to visit my pet, call to check on their progress, & the Dr. would also call me everyday to discuss their plan of care. Additionally, my pets have had outpatient surgeries at this facility with no complications. I’ve also utilized their aquatic therapy department for when my cavalier had her bilateral knee surgery. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or send any of my clients to this facility.
Not impressed at all. I took my great Dane to Wilson's based on a referral from my vet and referrals from other Dane owners. They performed a C-section on my dog and delivered 6 of the 13 puppies. The procedure went good and the pups are fine. However they never did any kind of follow up with me to see how the dogs were doing. And when I called to ask about dew claws removal they said to wait till pups are delivered. Then I got advice from many others that dew claws should be removed by 3 days old. Called Wilson veterinary and they said sorry we made a mistake. The pups should have had the dew claws removed by day three they are too old now sorry our Dr and receptionist gave you the wrong info. So now instead of 10 bucks a pup for dew claw removal it will cost at least $300.00 per pup and require surgery. With 13 pup's there is a big difference between 130 and 3600 and sorry don't cover it.
They are a superior veterinary hospital. Their care is exceptional - they can do just about everything right there. On-site compounding pharmacy. Dr. Kirby is so gentle with the animals, and the owners. The girls at the desk are compassionate and helpful. Sometimes they can work out a payment plan if you're a little short, which helped me out significantly one time. Everyone in the animal world seems to know about them. And they have offices in Washington Twp., Sterling Heights, and Richmond (maybe elsewhere, too). A superior organization.
So, after visiting here I know now why it has some low reviews. I don't think everyone gets the same experience. The nicest people in the place are the greeters at the front desk. They set the illusion that going here Is going to be enjoyable. In the lobby I met this older couple who pointed out to me that their dog had the same problem as my dog (cyst growth on foot). So I was satisfied to see their dog not in pain with bandage and a heeling paw. However my baby only got a small cut and a lot of medication. They said they were regulars and lived in the area, I did not, and only found this place because it is the quickest walk-in on a Sunday. Yes, despite having to wait for hours most other clinics told me I had a five to six hour wait. After sitting in the cold back room for almost two hours we were finally visited and the vet pinched my dogs growth to see it here would welp out, which he did. And the he came back shortly with a small cut line on his growth. If it wasn't going down now it would make me wonder if he even took a culture or biopsy to see if it could have been something major. Overall, if you stay in the area and you are a regular, more than likely you'll get the best service, but if not, unless your animal is nearly dying in your arms this isn't the best place to go. Their prices are reasonable it's the service and speed of service that needs more work. Like another reviewer said, this big place and only one vet is ridiculous. Maybe they should shut down other locations and join together for better services. I hate it when a place does this, they seem to be about the money and not about the true care of the animals.
